Introduction to Cleansers

Oily / Acne Skin
A.) Oily or Acne Prone Skin. Look for a gel based cleanser. This type will help remove excess, flaky, clogged pores, extra serum. The ideal type of cleanser for this skin type is either:
- Gel based; or
- Foaming
Sensitive / Dry Skin
B.) Sensitive / Dry Skin. Both skin types are one and the same. You need a moisture base cleanser. These types of cleansers should be non-foaming, but rich and creamy – especially rich. Milky cleanser is smoothing. Facial oils, rich creamy, lotion-like, balms, and milky.
The best ingredients should include hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or ceramides. Non-foaming will not strip the skins natural oils.
Cleansers should be one that is gentle and does not strip the skin. Increasing your moisture barrier is needed.
Combination Oily / Acne AND Sensitive / Dry Skin
C.) Combination Oily / Acne AND Sensitive / Dry Skin. This skin type, or “T Zone” needs to be balanced. The areas included are oily foreheads, nose, and chin. Drier areas are anywhere else. Cleanser should be a water-based cream to foam. You should avoid washing too much, which can break the skin barrier down.
Hormone Type Issued Skin
B.) Collagen loss hits about 30% into 5 year skin (and hormones, during menopause) can become more sensitive. The pH level may change. The skin can become more dry and creepy. Do not use a soap based cleanser. Instead, opt for a mild cleanser with a fragrance.
Anti-Aging Skin Issues
Anti-Aging Cleansers will include formulas to support dryness, dullness, and loss of firmness. Ingredients to look for include hyaluronic acid, glycolic and peptides. Our skin that needs more of an even tone should include Niacinamides to brighten and support collagen production. Some products for extremely dry and hormonal aged skin might need a cold cream. Typically this formula can be used on wet or dry skin.

Cleansers should be gentle and do not strip the skin of your natural oils Cleansers should balance the pH Level of your skin. For best cleansing results, you should cleanse in the morning and in the evening.
